Gamerji’s Expansion in Gaming-as-a-Service Across Key Markets

Gamerji, an Indian esports platform, is set to expand into India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the Philippines through gaming-as-a-service. Partnering with 34 telecom companies, they cater to over 65 million users, rewarding gamers with virtual currency in exchange for benefits. Gamerji, an esports platform based in India, is expanding its gaming-as-a-service model in key markets including India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Partnering with 34 telecom companies worldwide, Gamerji has integrated popular games like FIFA, Valorant, and Call of Duty into telecom apps, enabling cross-border tournaments for over 65-70 million users.

Sohan Thacker, founder of Gamerji, highlighted their partnerships with major telecom companies such as Vodafone Idea in India and Du in the UAE. “We have amassed over 65-70 million users,” Thacker noted. Users earn virtual currency, such as gold coins, which can be exchanged for rewards from telecom providers, like free data and discounts, thus promoting gaming through telco apps.

Gamerji’s AI-driven technology pairs players of similar skill levels, enhancing both gameplay and skill development. Despite initial skepticism from telecom partners regarding user engagement beyond simple recharges, Thacker revealed that 37% of Gamerji’s revenues now stem from its B2B telecom initiatives.

Comparatively, the MyVI app sees a few thousand daily users, while international telcos attract between 20,000-30,000 active users daily, indicating a higher budget per user. Thacker acknowledged geographical challenges, stating “different regions have data localisation requirements in gaming,” along with language and cultural disparities that complicate the creation of scalable cross-country tournaments.

Looking ahead, Gamerji plans to reinforce its presence in the identified regions and seeks collaborations with federations for significant tournaments, including the Esports Olympics and the Southeast Sports World Cup.
