Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, presided over a meeting of the Supreme Committee tasked with organizing the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) opening, confirming July 3 as the official date. This meeting included various ministers such as Kamel El-Wazir (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry), Manal Awad (Minister of Local Development), and Ahmed Kouchouk (Minister of Finance), among others.

During the meeting, Madbouly noted that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi had set July 3 for the GEM opening, and initial proposals had been submitted for the ceremony. A high-level committee incorporating relevant ministers and local officials has been formed to oversee preparations for the event.

Madbouly stated, “This event will be global, covered by all media outlets, and will be attended by a large number of monarchs, presidents, and prime ministers.” He underscored the importance of security, logistical planning, and technical readiness for the celebrations.

He has directed that international airports ensure optimal readiness for welcoming guests. Additionally, development work on transport routes surrounding the museum has started, with landscaping and lighting improvements planned over the coming months.

Madbouly mentioned that celebrations would take place not only in Cairo and Giza but also in other governorates, all of which would be prepared to high standards. Ambassador Yasser Shaban indicated that invitee lists for the event have been compiled, including various dignitaries and executives.

Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir confirmed that three metro stations near the GEM would be completed before the opening. He also reported inspections of the Ring Road for enhancements and progress on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations.

Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsani highlighted the meeting’s focus on preparing for the opening ceremony, which involves public transport, accommodation, and ongoing construction around the museum. He also mentioned discussions about Sphinx Airport development, overseen by a dedicated committee established by the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Madbouly affirmed that specific tasks will be delegated to various ministries and agencies, with regular meetings and field visits planned to monitor progress and implementation of the preparations for the GEM opening.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is set to officially open on July 3, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and a dedicated Supreme Committee.
