On March 17, Olivier Kayumba officially presented his letters of credence to Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, commencing his role as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda, with a base in Bangui. Kayumba had been leading Rwanda’s diplomatic mission in CAR and was appointed as ambassador in December of the previous year. He also served previously as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Emergency Management.

Rwanda and the Central African Republic enjoy strong diplomatic relations, bolstered by Rwanda’s involvement in peacekeeping missions under the United Nations.
