Malenko highlighted the significant interest in the exhibition within South Africa, stating that the competition enhances cultural exchange between the two countries. He emphasized that Russia and South Africa, being BRICS partners, are united in their objective of sustainable development, noting, “BRICS is not purely a political and economic group; it is also a bridge for cultural exchange, which plays a crucial role in fostering mutual understanding.”

The event is organized by Independent Media, IOL, with support from the TV BRICS African News Agency and Sputnik News Agency. Iqbal Surve, the Chairman of Independent Media, stressed the importance of photojournalism, stating, “A picture tells a thousand words. […] There’s always different sides to a story, but the one thing that always brings us together in a way is photographs.”

The Andrey Stenin International Press Photo Contest occurs annually, targeting young photojournalists aged 18 to 33. The winners’ exhibits have been featured in numerous countries, including China, Egypt, and Argentina. The Cape Town exhibition will be accessible until March 16.
