This effort emphasizes VDF’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, focusing on immediate relief and sustainable community support.

On a recent Tuesday, nearly 4,000 bags of 10KG sugar were distributed to various stakeholders, including political parties, organizations, individuals, and Village Development Committees (VDCs). The National People’s Party (NPP) and the United Democratic Party (UDP) each received 300 bags, while other political parties and wards received 150 to 200 bags.

Additionally, 200 bags went to the Christian Council, 171 to the National Assembly, and 100 were designated for individuals with disabilities. Darboe, known for his philanthropy, particularly during Ramadan and Tobaski, has focused his efforts on assisting vulnerable populations, despite being abroad for health reasons over the past six months.

Saihou Fofana, VDF’s Public Relations Officer, highlighted the aim of the donation to reach various communities during Ramadan. Political parties were tasked with distributing the sugar to those in need, believing this would facilitate accessibility for the underprivileged.

Karafa Sonko, a representative of UDP, expressed gratitude for VDF’s timely support to the Muslim community during Ramadan, noting the initiative fosters unity among political parties. Lamin Saho, representing NPP, also thanked the foundation, pledging to ensure the sugar reaches marginalized communities.

Honorable Samba Jallow from the National Reconciliation Party (NRP) reminisced about past donations to provincial assembly members and praised the collaboration among all political groups. Ismaila Jallow from the Brikama Area Council affirmed that this timely support would greatly assist those requesting basic necessities in their region.
