Ramdeholl to Captain Guyana Under-15 Team with New Squad

Richard Ramdeholl leads a 14-member Guyana U-15 team with 10 new players for the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Championship in April. The squad includes returning players and aims to build on their previous inter-county success under the coaching of Yeuraj Khemraj as they seek to win the championship last held in 2015.

Richard Ramdeholl has been appointed as the captain of the Guyana Under-15 squad for the upcoming Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-15, 50-over Championship scheduled from April 13 to 24 in Antigua. The 14-member team, announced by the Guyana Cricket Board, includes Brandon Henry as vice-captain.

Leading the team, Ramdeholl previously guided Berbice to an unbeaten run in the Guyana Cricket Board Inter-County, 50-over competition. Henry, conversely, led Demerara to a third-place finish behind Essequibo. Four players from last year’s squad are retained: Ramdeholl, Henry, wicketkeeper/batsman Justin Dowlin, and all-rounder Jathneil Nurse.

The final squad comprises: Justin Dowlin, Lomar Seecharran, Luke Amsterdam, Shahid Ramzan, Arif Bacchus, Richard Ramdeholl, Nathaniel Ramsammy, Jathniel Nurse, Usain Fredericks, Brandon Henry, Reyaz Latif, Patrice Fraser, Rafael McKenzie, and Prosper Jacobus. The reserved players include Khush Seegobin, Joshua Thomas, Bomesh Lall, Nathan Bishop, Tameshwar Deonandan, and Tyrese McPherson.

Yeuraj Khemraj has been appointed as the coach, while Yogeshwar Lall takes on the role of manager. During the Inter-county championship, Henry emerged as the leading runscorer with 92 runs, closely followed by teammate Ramzan with 91, showcasing a top score of 51 against Essequibo.

Notable performances included Dowlin, Ramzan, and others reaching half-centuries, with Bacchus and Seecharran showcasing their batting consistency. Demerara’s Reyaz Latif was a standout bowler, claiming nine wickets including a remarkable 7-20 against Select XI; he shared the leading wicket-taker title with Joshua Thomas, who also took nine wickets.

Ramdeholl recorded eight wickets and will be supported by Nurse in a spin-heavy squad. Selector enhancements have included a solid pace attack featuring Fraser, McKenzie, Jacobus, and Fredericks. Guyana’s last championship victory in this age group was in 2015 under Ashmead Nedd’s leadership.

Richard Ramdeholl will captain the Guyana Under-15 team, bolstered by a mix of returning and new players. With a strong lineup and strategic coaching staff, the team is aimed at reclaiming the regional crown in Antigua. Their impressive performances in previous inter-county competitions highlight their potential as they prepare for the upcoming championship.
