Tangara praised Prof Yunus’s leadership, stating that his diplomatic prowess would significantly aid the Rohingya people. Tangara also conveyed best wishes for Yunus in his new role as the head of Bangladesh’s Interim Government.
Prof Yunus highlighted Bangladesh’s initiatives to mobilize humanitarian aid for the Rohingya, seeking assistance in providing necessary resources in Rakhine to prevent further refugee flows. He called for greater bilateral trade and cooperation, indicating willingness to support Gambia’s efforts.
Furthermore, both leaders expressed satisfaction in signing an agreement for collaborative work in UN peacekeeping operations. They explored the potential of microcredit programs to alleviate poverty in Africa and enhance stability in conflict-affected areas. Present during this constructive dialogue were Dr Khalilur Rahman and Lamiya Morshed, who play crucial roles in addressing Rohingya issues and sustainable development respectively.
