ACUD and the Côte d’Ivoire Embassy have signed an agreement for a new embassy headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The plot in the Diplomatic District will host both the embassy and the ambassador’s residence. The move underscores strong bilateral relations and aims to enhance the capital’s role as a diplomatic hub.
The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) has signed a land sale agreement with the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Cairo for a new embassy headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC). This 5,000-square-meter plot is located in the Diplomatic District, where the embassy and ambassador’s residence will be constructed. Khaled Abbas, ACUD’s Chairperson, and Albert G. Dole, Côte d’Ivoire’s Ambassador to Egypt, formalized the agreement in a ceremony attended by representatives from both entities.
Ambassador Dole expressed his enthusiasm for the embassy’s move to NAC, citing it as a significant step per the Ivorian President’s directives. He remarked, “We are delighted to be in the NAC, this move is a testament to the strong ties between our two nations. We also extend our gratitude to ACUD for facilitating the contract signing in record time.” Dole also praised NAC’s infrastructure and amenities, emphasizing the importance of the Diplomatic District’s suitability for diplomatic functions.
Khaled Abbas welcomed the agreement, stating, “We are pleased to sign this agreement, paving the way for the embassy’s relocation to the Diplomatic District in the New Administrative Capital. The presence of Côte d’Ivoire’s embassy is a valuable addition to the district.” He noted that the number of embassies moving to NAC is rising, which enhances the district’s diplomatic significance.
The master plan for the New Administrative Capital includes a designated Diplomatic District aimed at centralizing all foreign embassies and diplomatic missions, currently spread across Cairo. This initiative is designed to develop a modern diplomatic hub, elevating NAC’s status as a key diplomatic center.
This agreement with the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire is part of ACUD’s broader strategy to attract more diplomatic missions to the New Capital, following recent agreements with other embassies, including the one with Algeria.
The recent land sale agreement between ACUD and the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire signifies a crucial step in establishing a modern diplomatic hub in the New Administrative Capital. The relocation to the Diplomatic District is expected to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance the infrastructure and living standards in the area. This effort aligns with ACUD’s goal of centralizing embassies in a sophisticated environment conducive to international diplomacy.
