Nepal Claims Narrow Victory Over Uganda in Women’s T-20 Tournament

Nepal secured its first win in the ongoing Four-Nation Women’s T-20 Tournament by defeating Uganda by one wicket. After an initial loss to Namibia, Nepal successfully chased a target of 76 runs. On March 9, during the Four-Nation Women’s T-20 Cricket Tournament in Uganda, Nepal earned its first victory by defeating Uganda by one wicket in their second match. Previously, they lost to Namibia by six wickets.

Uganda set a target of 76 runs after losing seven wickets in their 20 overs. Nepal successfully chased down the target with nine wickets down, scoring the winning runs in 19.5 overs.

Top performances include Sana Prabin, who scored 17 runs, while Puja Mahato and Rubina Chhetri added 16 and 10 runs, respectively. On the bowling side, Mahato took three wickets, while Captain Indu Verma secured two wickets against Uganda, marking Uganda’s first defeat in the tournament.

With the tournament involving four countries—Nepal, Namibia, Hong Kong, and host Uganda—each team will compete in two matches against each other. Nepal’s next matches are scheduled against Hong Kong on March 10, Namibia on March 12, and Uganda again on March 13, followed by Hong Kong on March 14. The top two teams will qualify for the final.

The Nepali women’s cricket team comprises Captain Verma, Rubina Chhetri, Puja Mahato, Alisha Kumari Yadav, and various other players, totaling 15 members in the squad to compete in the tournament.
