US Delegation to Meet Ukrainian Officials for Peace Talks in Saudi Arabia

An American delegation will meet Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia next week to discuss a peace deal regarding the ongoing conflict. US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz outlined the administration’s commitment to shuttle diplomacy and leveraging its position to encourage negotiations. This follows previous high-level talks between Russian and US representatives aimed at easing hostilities.

Next week, an American delegation will travel to Saudi Arabia to engage in discussions with Ukrainian officials regarding a potential peace agreement, as revealed by US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. He emphasized the intention to advance these discussions by stating, “Secretary (of State Marco) Rubio, myself and Ukrainian delegation will be meeting in Saudi Arabia next week to get these talks back on track, get the ceasefire in place, and drive peace home.”

Waltz reassured reporters that President Donald Trump has been unequivocal in his stance, insisting that hostilities must cease. He noted, “We will engage in the shuttle diplomacy, and we will continue to use his leadership and what leverage we have to get both sides of the peace table. It’s not going to be easy.”

Additionally, Waltz announced that NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte would be visiting the US next week. Last month, officials from Russia and the US met in Riyadh, marking their first high-level discussions since the 2022 onset of the Ukraine conflict, aiming to establish a foundation for future peace negotiations and enhance bilateral ties.

The upcoming meeting in Saudi Arabia signifies a renewed effort toward peace between Russia and Ukraine, facilitated by US officials. With the commitment from President Trump and the involvement of NATO leadership, the objective remains focused on halting the conflict and fostering negotiations. This development follows a notable engagement between Russian and US officials last month, indicating a concerted diplomatic approach moving forward.
