The Food Safety Authority has initiated an investigation into the product’s manufacturing and its misleading advertisements on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok. Claims that one gummy can replace an entire vegetable serving are being questioned following consumer complaints.

A quality test revealed that a box of 30 Kera Gummies contains a mere 0.51 grams of fiber, significantly lower than the fiber content in common fruits. For comparison, this amount equals just one-fifth of the fiber found in 100 grams of banana. Considering the World Health Organization recommends a minimum of 25 grams of fiber per day, consumers would need to consume about 50 gummies to meet this requirement.

Health authorities in Dak Lak province are currently assessing Asia Life, the manufacturer of Kera Gummies, for compliance with health regulations. In response, Kera Vietnam asserts on social media that each gummy contains over 200 milligrams of fiber based on a test by Avatek Science Technology and emphasizes the high quality of their locally sourced ingredients. They also claimed legitimate licensing from the Ministry of Health.

Kera has denied allegations regarding the production of the gummies in China, clarifying that a distributor misused their images on unauthorized e-commerce platforms. In an expert view, Lam Vinh Nien, head of clinical nutrition at the University Medical Center in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that supplements like fiber gummies should complement rather than substitute fresh produce, indicating that processing can diminish nutritional value considerably.

The controversy surrounding Kera Gummies highlights concerns over misleading health claims and the nutritional value of dietary supplements marketed as food replacements. Investigations by health authorities are warranted to ensure compliance with safety standards. Experts emphasize the importance of whole foods over processed substitutes, as the nutritional content of processed items may fall short of expectations.
