In Gambella city, celebrations featured regional leaders and Meskerem Abebe, Vice President of the Prosperity Party’s Women’s Wing. Meskerem highlighted women’s essential roles in leadership, diplomacy, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding while acknowledging achievements in women’s rights and their increased economic and social participation.
Ariat Ujulu, Head of the Gambella Regional State Women and Social Affairs Bureau, elaborated on regional advancements in female empowerment. She noted that earlier, harmful traditional practices hindered women’s opportunities, but recent initiatives are aimed at protecting them from violence and enhancing development participation, alongside leadership improvements.
