In its filing, Sudan contends that the UAE’s involvement has persisted since at least 2023, facilitating acts of “genocide, murder, theft of property, rape, forcible displacement, trespassing, vandalism of public properties, and violation of human rights.” To mitigate these actions, Sudan is requesting the ICJ to impose emergency measures for the UAE to prevent further violations under the Genocide Convention.
The UAE has publicly denied these allegations, including claims made at the UN Security Council, asserting that it has not supplied weapons or any military support to the RSF, which has been in conflict with Sudanese forces since April 2023.
