Najat Aoun Saliba, a member of the Lebanese parliament since 2022, has a significant background in science and an active role in environmental initiatives. With a Ph.D. in science, she leads several projects aimed at promoting sustainability and recovery in Lebanon. Her political engagement intensified after the 2020 Beirut Port Explosion, positioning her as a reform advocate representing the Maronite community in the Chouf district.
Before entering politics, Saliba was actively involved in academia and environmental conservation. She directed the Nature Conservation Center at the American University of Beirut and founded the Atmospheric and Analytical Laboratory, contributing to biodiversity protection efforts. Having earned numerous accolades, including recognition by L’Oréal-UNESCO for women in science, Saliba exemplifies dedication to both scientific advancement and societal progress in Lebanon.
Lebanon stands at a critical juncture as it seeks to recover from years of instability fueled by both internal and external factors. With the election of a knowledgeable government led by figures like Najat Aoun Saliba, the country can aim for restoration and enhanced sovereignty.
