Ghana Celebrates Independence Day with Discounted Internet Bundle

Ghana celebrates its 68th Independence Day with a special data bundle offer from major telecom companies, priced at GHS10 for 6GB. This initiative aims to enhance digital access. Each provider has distinct activation codes. Plans for reducing data costs will be outlined in 2025, and the bundle will be valid for three days after activation.

To celebrate Ghana’s 68th Independence Day, the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, led by President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has announced a collaboration with key telecom companies: MTN Ghana, Telecel Ghana, and AT Ghana. This partnership introduces a limited-time Independence Day Data Bundle priced at GHS10, which provides users with 6GB of data, a significant enhancement over standard offerings of 1GB or 3GB during holidays.

Minister Sam George highlighted the initiative’s purpose, stating the goal is to “build enablers for a truly digitalized Ghana,” allowing users to tap into global opportunities from their homes. This promotion reflects the ministry’s commitment to enhancing digital access and inclusion across the nation.

For those interested in purchasing the Independence Day bundle, each provider offers distinct USSD codes. MTN Ghana users should dial 138, select Option 2 for Special Day Bundle, and follow the prompts. Telecel Ghana users should dial 700, navigate to the special data bundle section, select the Independence Day offer, and confirm. AT Ghana users can subscribe by dialing *567, selecting Option 3 for Special Offers, and confirming their choice.

Minister George assured that a roadmap aimed at reducing data costs sustainably would be presented on March 7, 2025, aligning with Ghana’s digital transformation efforts. Earlier in February, he announced a working group to create strategies for lowering data pricing within the sector.

The special data bundle will be available exclusively on Independence Day, March 6, 2025, and will remain valid for three days post-activation. Users are encouraged to activate their bundles promptly to maximize the benefits before expiration.
