Consolidated Bank Ghana’s Initiative Enhances Water Access for Communities

Consolidated Bank Ghana has launched a project to build boreholes to enhance water access in underserved communities. This initiative is part of its CSR efforts and aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. CBG aims to improve health and promote development by providing clean water to various regions across Ghana.

Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd (CBG) has initiated a project to enhance access to clean water for deprived communities by constructing boreholes in underserved regions across the country. This initiative aligns with the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6, which seeks to ensure that water and sanitation are available and sustainably managed for all.

Many communities in Ghana still depend on unsafe water sources, posing significant health risks and impeding socioeconomic growth. CBG is actively engaging communities to assess their specific needs and implement sustainable water solutions, which is central to its CSR strategy.

So far, 26 boreholes have been constructed in areas including Lambussie, Sissala East, Wa West, Techiman South, and the Oti Region, providing vital access to clean water. The targeted communities include Nchumuru, Asempa Akura, Odeefo, and several others, significantly improving public health and overall living conditions.

Local leaders and residents have expressed their appreciation for CBG’s efforts, stating that consistent access to clean water will contribute positively to their daily lives. One community chief remarked, “Water is life. With access to clean water, our children will be healthier, and we will be able to focus more on education and business.”

The boreholes were strategically installed in areas identified as most in need, benefiting thousands of people. CBG’s Managing Director, Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, emphasized the importance of access to clean water as a fundamental human right and urged communities to take ownership of this resource to ensure its sustainable use and maintenance.

The borehole initiative by CBG represents a crucial advancement in providing essential clean water access to underserved communities in Ghana. By aligning with CSR principles and the UN’s SDGs, CBG is not only improving health outcomes but also fostering educational and economic growth. The positive feedback from community members highlights the initiative’s potential for long-term impact on quality of life in these areas.
