Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the seizure of territories in DRC by the M23 group and criticized the presence of the Rwanda Defence Force in the region. Trudeau emphasized the importance of cooperation among regional countries and organizations to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict and urged stakeholders to recommit to peace initiatives and address humanitarian needs.
In response to Rwanda’s involvement in the DRC conflict, Canada has enacted sanctions that include suspending export permits and government deals.
