During a meeting with a Togolese delegation, Blackman highlighted the importance of transforming government-level diplomatic relations into tangible benefits for citizens. He urged the Barbadian private sector, especially creatives and youth, to explore regulatory frameworks to facilitate their product entry into the Togolese market. This initiative aims at fostering unprecedented levels of partnership between Barbados and Togo.

This includes leveraging Togo’s superior infrastructure, particularly the port in Lomé, which is recognized as West Africa’s largest and most efficient. He noted that Lomé can process cargo quickly, taking only 12 minutes from ship to customer.
Lomé port has dramatically risen as a regional hub over the past decade, increasing its cargo capacity significantly. It competes with other major ports in the region, such as Lekki in Nigeria and Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire.
