North Arrow Minerals Inc. (TSXV: NAR) has provided an update on exploration activities at its Kraaipan Gold Project in Botswana. This project spans 724 km² of the Kraaipan Greenstone Belt (KGB), which is largely unexplored due to a significant cover of Kalahari sands and gravels. While the southern section of the KGB is rich in mineral occurrences, exploration in Botswana is limited historically. The company plans to undertake modern exploration techniques to assess the area’s gold potential.
The exploration strategy at Kraaipan emphasizes the use of high-resolution aerial magnetic surveys and optimized reverse-circulation (RC) drilling. So far, approximately 80% of the area has been surveyed using Remote Mapper technology, which has yielded over 21,000 line kilometers of magnetic data. Detailed mapping of bedrock and structural features is currently ongoing, with the completion of magnetic surveys expected in April 2025.
North Arrow intends to identify and test key targets by integrating data from the Remote Mapper surveys, geochemical soil surveys, and previous drilling results. The upcoming three-month RC drilling program is slated to commence in May, aiming to collect geochemical samples to discover new gold mineralization zones beneath the Kalahari cover. The drilling platform is designed for efficiency, potentially allowing 3 to 5 holes per day.
The Kraaipan Gold Project includes three mineral concessions across 60 km of the KGB. The KGB, located along the Botswana-South Africa border, is associated with significant gold deposits, including the Kalgold mine. Historical exploration has been hampered by Kalahari overburden, making this new exploration initiative crucial for revealing undiscovered gold resources that may lie beneath this cover.
To further facilitate exploration, North Arrow collaborates with Rockman Resources, implementing advanced techniques like UAV geophysics and truck-mounted drilling. Future investment aims to strengthen ownership of the Kraaipan Gold Project, with an objective of investing $5 million by 2027. North Arrow remains focused on gold exploration while continuing its Canadian diamond projects.
