The fourth round of the 2025 UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour was held in Longmont, Colorado, from February 21-23. Mongolian athletes showcased exceptional talent, bringing home two gold medals and one silver medal in the competition.
In the women’s speed event, International Master of Sports N. Selenge achieved a remarkable time of 12.64 seconds, clinching her third consecutive gold medal in the World Cup series. Meanwhile, in the men’s speed category, fellow International Master N. Kherlen completed the course in 7.43 seconds, earning the gold and solidifying his position as a two-time World Cup Champion.
Kherlen’s older brother, International Master Ch. Mandakhbayar, also competed fiercely, finishing in 8.67 seconds to secure the silver medal. O. Saikhanjargal also participated, finishing sixth in the men’s speed category.
The event gathered nearly 90 elite climbers from 15 countries, indicating a robust international presence. The USA fielded the largest team with 27 climbers. This showcases the competitive nature of the Ice Climbing World Tour on a global scale.
Mongolia’s contingent will conclude their tour with the final round in Edmonton, Canada, on February 27, 2025, from which four athletes are set to return home. This marks an exciting series for Mongolian climbers, as they continue to excel in the sport.
