The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has refuted claims regarding the deportation of its citizens from the United States to third countries, particularly Costa Rica. The government emphasizes that the Kyrgyz Embassy and Consulate in the U.S. are engaged in discussions with American authorities to clarify immigration regulation changes, as well as issues surrounding the expulsion of foreigners.
It was noted that the Kyrgyz Republic’s foreign offices in the U.S. maintain regular communication with U.S. officials focused on the deportation of Kyrgyz citizens. They also liaise with Latin American diplomatic missions for these matters. Current information indicates that no Kyrgyz nationals are included in the group of 135 foreigners deported to Costa Rica on February 20.
The Ministry has assured that if Kyrgyz citizens seeking assistance from the United States reach out, they will receive the necessary help. The Ministry will keep a watchful eye on evolving U.S. immigration policies and the conditions affecting Kyrgyz nationals.
Previously, reports stated that Costa Rica agreed to accept 200 individuals from Central Asian countries and India, who were deported from the U.S. for illegally crossing the border. Some of the deportees were assumed to be Kyrgyzstani citizens, prompting the Ministry’s ongoing vigilance concerning the situation.
