India strongly criticized Pakistan for its claims on Jammu and Kashmir during a UN Human Rights Council session, calling Pakistan a “failed state” reliant on foreign aid. Indian Counsellor Kshitij Tyagi reported on the significant progress made in the region and highlighted Pakistan’s issues with human rights and governance. Tyagi emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an inseparable part of India.
At the recent UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva, India firmly rebuked Pakistan for bringing up the Jammu and Kashmir issue, labeling Pakistan a “failed state” reliant on “international handouts”. This assertion was made during India’s Right of Reply to what it described as Pakistan’s “malicious” claims. Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, emphasized the falsehoods propagated by Pakistan’s military-terrorist complex.
Tyagi highlighted the irony of Pakistan’s accusations while its own governance is characterized by instability and incompetence. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, are intrinsic parts of India and pointed to significant political, social, and economic progress in the region as proof of the government’s effectiveness. Tyagi addressed that this advancement reflects the population’s trust following years of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.
Furthermore, Tyagi criticized Pakistan’s human rights record and its history of supporting UN-designated terrorists, stating it lacks the credibility to advise others on human rights. He stressed that instead of obsessing over India, Pakistan should concentrate on providing governance and justice for its populace. Tyagi underscored that Pakistan’s use of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for propagandistic purposes detracts from its credibility.
India’s rebuttal at the UN underscores its stance on the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, asserting that the region is a core part of India. India’s emphasis on the progress made in Jammu and Kashmir contrasts with Pakistan’s internal struggles and human rights issues. By framing Pakistan as a state lacking stability and credibility, India seeks to discredit Pakistan’s claims and draw attention to its own governance successes.
