Morocco’s DGSN signed a partnership with the AJR to bolster state defense in judicial matters. The agreement outlines strategies for litigation management, enhances legal expertise, and ensures rights protection for police officers. This initiative signifies the DGSN’s broader commitment to institutional development and public trust, reflected in its recent crime reduction achievements and digital transformation initiatives.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) of Morocco and the Kingdom Judicial Agency (AJR) signed a partnership agreement on the enhancement of collaboration to defend state interests in judicial matters. This agreement, signed by key officials including Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah and DGSN Director General Abdellatif Hammouchi, aims to establish a structured cooperation strategy on shared interests.
The agreement emphasizes the management and prevention of litigation, risk mapping, and safeguarding state interests in court proceedings. Additionally, it aims to build legal expertise and improve administrative services, therefore boosting citizens’ trust in public institutions. It outlines the responsibilities of all parties, emphasizing the coordination of defense strategies and oversight of judgment execution favoring the DGSN.
Notably, the partnership also addresses the rights of DGSN personnel, ensuring protections under the “State Protection” principle against physical and verbal attacks while performing their duties. A Steering Committee is established to provide oversight on joint action plans, confirming strategic areas for cooperation.
Supporting this partnership is a Technical Committee tasked with executing these approved initiatives and planning future collaborative projects, demonstrating DGSN’s commitment to institutional development. This agreement builds on previous collaborations, such as the one with the National Human Rights Council focused on law enforcement training and capacity building that commenced a training program for migrant rights in early 2023.
The DGSN’s 2024 report noted a significant 10% decline in violent crime. Noteworthy achievements included documenting 755,541 criminal cases with an impressive 95% resolution rate. Additionally, the DGSN successfully dismantled 947 organized crime networks and apprehended 1,561 suspects. Furthermore, it embarked on a digital transformation with nearly 4.7 million electronic national identity cards issued this year alongside enhancing its international role by securing a Vice Presidency at Interpol for Africa.
The DGSN’s partnership with the AJR marks a significant advancement in Morocco’s judicial and security collaboration. This agreement focuses on defending state interests and enhancing public trust, showcasing the commitment to improving legal assistance and protections for police. With ongoing efforts in institutional partnerships and significant advancements in crime resolution and digitization, the DGSN evidences a proactive approach to law enforcement and public administration.
