Death Toll from Torrential Rains in Bolivia Climbs to 37 as Damage Worsens

Since November, Bolivia has experienced heavy rainfall leading to 37 fatalities. La Paz, Cochabamba, and several other regions have declared states of emergency due to extensive damage and ongoing severe weather warnings. A total of 379 homes have been destroyed, affecting over 43,000 people across the country.

La Paz has witnessed severe torrential rains since November, resulting in a tragic death toll of 37 as reported by Deputy Minister of Civil Defence, Juan Carlos Calvimontes. Among the deceased, 16 are from Cochabamba, with six additional individuals currently reported as missing. The fatalities also include eight from La Paz, five each in Potosi and Chuquisaca, two in Tarija, and one in Santa Cruz.

The situation in Bolivia remains critical as heavy rains continue to affect multiple regions, particularly La Paz and Cochabamba. The government is mobilizing resources to aid affected communities, while local emergency declarations increase in response to the ongoing disaster. With severe weather predictions extending through April, authorities are focused on minimizing risks and facilitating recovery efforts.
