Giorgio Silli, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, recently conducted an official visit to Lima, Peru, emphasizing international adoptions and enhancing connections with the Italian community. His agenda included meetings with leading Italian and Peruvian institutions, aiming to foster collaboration regarding adoption policies and community support.

During this official mission, Silli engaged with various representatives, including those from COMITES, CGIE, and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as high-profile leaders in the Peruvian government. A key part of the visit involved meetings with Ministers for Vulnerable Populations, Fanny Esther Montellanos Carbajal and Carlos Jesus Vilela del Carpio, to deliberate on fruitful cooperation in the adoption sector. These discussions led up to an international seminar titled ‘Adoption: an interdisciplinary look,’ organized in collaboration with Peru’s Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations.

Furthermore, Silli met with Ambassador John Peter Camino Cannock to address regional and international policy matters. Silli’s engagements also included an important meeting with Lima’s Metropolitan Mayor, Rafael Lopez Aliaga Cazorla, who honored him with the Medal of the City of Lima, emphasizing the event’s significance.

Investments were on the agenda during Silli’s discussions with the Ministry of Transport, where he highlighted the potential opportunities for Italian enterprises in Peru’s growing economy. Silli asserted that Peru offers favorable economic conditions for foreign investment and active participation.

In a statement, Silli remarked, “This mission reaffirmed the strength of our bilateral ties, with a special focus on cooperation in the international adoption sector. We are satisfied with the opportunities Peru offers to Italian companies and we intend to further strengthen our cooperation, particularly with the local authorities, to promote the rights of families and individuals.’
