SVG Welcomes Egypt’s Ambassador Dr. Sherif Shehata

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines welcomed Ambassador Dr. Sherif Shehata from Egypt, marking a significant moment in their diplomatic relations. The ceremony underscored both nations’ commitments to enhancing cooperation in vital areas such as climate adaptation and economic collaboration.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) officially welcomed his Excellency Dr. Sherif Shehata, Egypt’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, during a ceremony at Government House on February 24, 2025. He presented his Letters of Credence to Dame Susan Dougan, the Governor General, who warmly welcomed him and highlighted the growing diplomatic relationship between SVG and Egypt.

During the ceremony, Dame Susan Dougan reaffirmed SVG’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Egypt in shared areas of interest. Ambassador Shehata reciprocated by sending greetings from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and emphasizing Egypt’s focus on strengthening South-South cooperation in climate adaptation, capacity building, and economic partnerships.

Ambassador Shehata also met with Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and Hon. Frederick Stephenson, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Gonsalves expressed eagerness to deepen ties with Egypt, recognizing its significant role on the African continent and globally. He expressed confidence that the ambassador’s tenure would enhance diplomatic relations.

Minister Stephenson shared similar sentiments, stating that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is ready to collaborate more closely in diverse sectors. Diplomatic relations between Egypt and SVG were established on November 16, 2010, paving the way for future partnerships that will benefit both nations.
