Noronex Proceeds with Diamond Drilling at Fiesta Copper-Silver Project in Namibia

Noronex is mobilizing a diamond drill rig for the Fiesta copper-silver project in Namibia. Positive assays indicate significant mineralization and the company plans a 2,000-meter drilling program. Initial efforts will focus on re-entering a previous hole to explore the mineral width and features, aiming to confirm the system’s potential size.

Noronex, an exploration firm based in Perth, Australia, is mobilizing a diamond drill rig to expedite exploration at its Fiesta project located in Namibia’s Kalahari copper belt. The company received promising assays indicating substantial copper-silver mineralization 500 meters west of earlier drilling results. Mobilizing the drill rig aims to complete a 2,000-meter drilling program at Fiesta and adjacent prospects.

The initial plan involves re-entering an existing drill hole to investigate the mineralization’s width and characteristics. The upcoming drilling will confirm bedding orientation and structural controls over mineralization. Following this, additional drilling will extend tests on known mineralization and target further structural extensions.

Chief Geologist Bruce Hooper highlighted the significance of recent findings, noting that a major 500-meter step-out delivered extensive copper-silver intercepts and new mineralized intervals. “Extending the Fiesta mineralization by over half a kilometre… is a major step forward in defining the potential size of this system,” Hooper stated. The next phase involves diamond drilling to ascertain the full width and nature of the mineralization, particularly as the system is open to the west.

Funding for the Fiesta campaigns comes from an earn-in agreement with South32, an ASX-listed company. So far, Noronex has completed 19 reverse circulation drill holes at Fiesta, an area rich in mineralization. Interestingly, the characteristics of these intercepts exhibit similarities to significant deposits found over 400 kilometers east in Botswana, such as those at the Khoemacau project, which hosts significant copper resources.

The mobilization of a diamond drill rig by Noronex at the Fiesta project aims to deepen understanding of its copper-silver mineralization. Recent assays indicate promising extensions of mineralization, potentially expanding the resource size significantly. With funding secured from South32, further drilling efforts will focus on confirming the extent and structural controls of the mineralization, with parallels drawn to successful deposits in Botswana.
