Khalifa Haftar stated, “The Benghazi international stadium belongs to all Libyans,” referring to it as a unifying venue as the country navigates ongoing challenges. Libya is still dealing with the political instability and turmoil stemming from the 2011 NATO-backed revolt that ousted dictator Muammar Qaddafi, resulting in a split between the Tripoli-based government in the west and a rival administration supported by Haftar in the east.
