Mongolia’s Contribution to the 63rd Session of the UN Commission for Social Development

The 63rd session of the UN Commission for Social Development (CSocD 63) took place from February 10-14, 2025, at the UN Headquarters in New York, focusing on the theme of strengthening solidarity, social inclusion, and social cohesion. This session aimed to accelerate commitments made in the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

During the session on February 11, Mongolia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ankhbayar Nyamdorj, delivered a speech highlighting key achievements in social development since the 1995 World Summit held in Copenhagen. He addressed challenges in executing the social dimensions of the 2030 Agenda, expressing optimism that solutions would emerge at the upcoming Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, scheduled for November 2025.

On February 13, Ambassador Nyamdorj participated as a panelist in a discussion organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The discussion, titled “Advancing Social Development and Social Justice through Coordinated, Equitable, and Inclusive Policies,” featured Nyamdorj providing insights into Mongolia’s cooperative movement and the “New Cooperative-Wealthy Herder” Program, along with advocating for the UN General Assembly to declare 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC2025).
