According to a CNN report, Saudi officials express concern that Iran is in a better position to pursue nuclear weapons, especially with its regional allies, who have historically deterred Israeli aggression, becoming increasingly weakened.
Although President Donald Trump has indicated a willingness to negotiate a fresh deal with Iran, the Iranian government’s position remains erratic. Recently, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed negotiations with the U.S. as “not smart” and has expressed hesitation regarding engagement with American officials.
Historically, Saudi Arabia supported the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and global powers but later aligned with Trump’s decision to rescind the agreement in 2018.
