MwareTV Enhances OTT Solutions by Integrating Dolby’s THEOplayer

MwareTV has partnered with Dolby to enhance its OTT services by integrating THEOplayer for improved video quality. The collaboration facilitates operational efficiency, launching the IGADO+ service in Ethiopia through Ethio Telecom with a diverse range of content. MwareTV’s flexibility and modular design empower users without coding experience to create robust video platforms across multiple devices and platforms.

MwareTV has enhanced its over-the-top (OTT) solutions by integrating Dolby’s THEOplayer, which boosts video quality for the IGADO+ service in Ethiopia through collaboration with Ethio Telecom. MwareTV specializes in cloud-based IPTV and OTT Middleware solutions, catering to cable companies, ISPs, and content owners with customizable components for subscriber management, content delivery, billing, and marketing. This modular architecture allows non-coders to launch and manage OTT services easily.

The MwareTV offering includes features like a comprehensive TV management system (TVMS), robust digital rights management (DRM), video encoding equipment, and services for CatchupTV and CloudPVR. The App Builder—a key part of MwareTV’s platform—permits users to create, maintain, and monetize video streaming with a range of customization without needing coding skills.

Supporting 15 different platforms, including Web, iOS, Android, and others, MwareTV operates in over 25 countries, ensuring high-quality video delivery across diverse client needs. This case study details how MwareTV improved video playback quality and operational efficiency by integrating Dolby’s React Native SDK, contributing to its success in the African market with IGADO+.

Initially, MwareTV developed its video player using open-source technologies like ExoPlayer and native solutions. However, maintaining compatibility across platforms and managing separate engineering teams for iOS and Android became resource-intensive. This led MwareTV to seek a commercial solution for video playback, saving time and allowing a strategic focus on expanding their services across Africa.

MwareTV evaluated various commercial video player options before selecting Dolby’s THEOplayer, citing its platform compatibility, user experience, support, feature set, and DRM capabilities as key criteria. The integration of THEOplayer’s React Native SDK enhances overall video playback quality, allowing MwareTV to implement premium features such as offline viewing and picture-in-picture.

Sander Kerstens, CEO of MwareTV, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership with Dolby, highlighting the positive impact on cloud TV platforms and streamlining video quality improvements across devices. This integration allows customers to focus on service enhancements without complex coding requirements, facilitating rapid deployment and monetization of video services.

The collaboration with Ethio Telecom has allowed MwareTV to redirect resources toward primary business functions, leading to success with the IGADO+ service, which offers 125 live TV channels and extensive video on demand. The service is designed for the Ethiopian audience and includes various content categories such as sports, entertainment, and children’s programming.

Powered by MwareTV’s cloud infrastructure and Dolby’s THEOplayer, IGADO+ ensures efficient subscription management and high-quality content delivery, with plans to expand availability to smart TVs soon. MwareTV’s strategy to combine external partnerships with innovative technology has opened new avenues in the OTT landscape across Africa.

MwareTV has successfully enhanced its OTT offerings by integrating Dolby’s THEOplayer, leading to improved video quality and operational efficiency. By reallocating resources and leveraging Dolby’s technology, MwareTV has made significant strides in the Ethiopian market through the IGADO+ service. This partnership exemplifies how commercial solutions can optimize service delivery and expand market presence in the OTT sector.
