This app was introduced at the project headquarters in Addis Ababa and enables users to access ID registration information offline, thus simplifying the process of obtaining a national ID.
The Fayda app, available on both Google Play and the App Store, is developed in-house and offers various features for user convenience. According to Selamawit Habtamu, the Product Manager, users can recover lost ID numbers and download a digital ID straight from the app.
Moreover, the app facilitates users in correcting demographic errors and updating personal details, such as their address and email info, directly via their mobile devices. Individuals can also request a printed version of their Fayda ID card post-registration, and a dedicated support feature enables users to give feedback, lodge complaints, or seek additional information.
This application is part of Ethiopia’s broader strategy to digitize civic services and improve the management of national IDs. Currently, over 12 million individuals have registered for the ID service, with males constituting 34.8% and females 65.2% of the registrants.
