The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) indicated that the convention’s current review includes translations into six official UN languages, with plans for broader dissemination upon its finalization.
The UN Special Committee will discuss next steps for the Protocol negotiations, anticipated to commence in early 2026, two years after the convention’s adoption by the UN General Assembly. Vietnam will host a signing ceremony in 2025, coinciding with both the United Nations’ 80th anniversary and Vietnam’s national celebrations, marking a significant assertion of Vietnam’s role in the international community.
