NUEYS is actively developing programs in the Gash Barka Region to enhance vocational and political knowledge among youth. A recent training program covered essential topics including nationalism, environmental conservation, and technology. Key stakeholders stressed the importance of collaboration for these initiatives to succeed.
The National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) has highlighted ongoing initiatives to empower youth in the Gash Barka Region. These programs aim to improve vocational, political, and general knowledge among the youth. A culminating event for a recent social science training program, which took place from January 27 to February 3, served as an important platform for discussing these efforts.
The training covered a wide range of topics vital for youth development. Participants learned about the history of the NUEYS, its role in national matters, concepts of nationalism, ideological principles, and political success. Other subject areas included environmental conservation, youths’ contributions to the economy, technology literacy, and foundational knowledge of philosophy and religion.
Mr. Tekle Zere, the head of political and organizational affairs at the NUEYS branch, noted that the program enhanced young people’s understanding and facilitated experience-sharing among attendees. This highlights the significance of collective learning and collaboration in youth initiatives.
Acting regional head Mr. Marikos Girmatsion affirmed that the training aligns with NUEYS’s broader vision of fostering comprehensive awareness and capacity building among youth. This commitment demonstrates the union’s proactive approach to empowering the younger generation.
Ambassador Mahmud Ali Hirui emphasized that the success of youth-focused programs necessitates active participation from the government, PFDJ institutions, the public, and the youth. He urged for collaboration to ensure effective implementation of these vital initiatives.
Eritrea has been focusing on youth empowerment as a crucial aspect of its development strategy. With a significant portion of the population consisting of young individuals, the government and various organizations, such as the NUEYS, have been implementing programs aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge. These initiatives are essential for fostering a knowledgeable, engaged, and capable youth who can contribute to the nation’s growth and development.
The programs initiated by NUEYS in the Gash Barka Region represent a significant step in empowering Eritrean youth. By focusing on vocational training, political awareness, and knowledge sharing, these efforts aim to nurture a well-informed generation prepared to engage actively in society. Collaborative engagement between the government and youth remains vital for the success and sustainability of these programs.
