The National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) has highlighted ongoing initiatives to empower youth in the Gash Barka Region. A culminating event for a recent social science training program, which took place from January 27 to February 3, served as an important platform for discussing these efforts.

Participants learned about the history of the NUEYS, its role in national matters, concepts of nationalism, ideological principles, and political success. Other subject areas included environmental conservation, youths’ contributions to the economy, technology literacy, and foundational knowledge of philosophy and religion.
Mr. Tekle Zere, the head of political and organizational affairs at the NUEYS branch, noted that the program enhanced young people’s understanding and facilitated experience-sharing among attendees. This highlights the significance of collective learning and collaboration in youth initiatives.
Acting regional head Mr. Marikos Girmatsion affirmed that the training aligns with NUEYS’s broader vision of fostering comprehensive awareness and capacity building among youth. This commitment demonstrates the union’s proactive approach to empowering the younger generation.
