Jamaican athletes Briana Campbell from Life University and Tajean Houston from Texas Wesleyan University were named NAIA Athletes of the Week following their impressive performances in recent competitions. Campbell, a former St Jago High track star, competed at the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson University, where she broke the NAIA record in the women’s 60m hurdles with a time of 8.18 seconds. Additionally, she registered the second-fastest time in the women’s 200m event.
Houston, the reigning NAIA champion and former student of Kingston College, emerged victorious in the men’s 60m hurdles Invitational final with a personal best time of 7.71 seconds. This achievement positioned him just 0.01 seconds shy of the NAIA record. Earlier in the competition, he had already equaled his personal best of 7.77 seconds, showcasing outstanding performance throughout the event.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recognizes exceptional performances among college athletes, particularly in track and field events.
