The deployment includes 73 military police for South Sudan, 98 explosive ordnance disposal experts for the CAR, and 184 engineering staff for Lebanon.
At the send-off ceremony, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister General Tea Seiha emphasized that these peacekeepers would engage in vital activities such as mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, and infrastructure development. He stated, “The departure of our peacekeepers for South Sudan, Central African Republic and Lebanon clearly show the UN’s confidence in our continuous contributions to promoting peace, security and stability in war-torn countries.”
Since sending its first troop contingent in 2006, Cambodia has deployed a total of 9,826 peacekeepers, including 857 women, across 10 nations. Presently, Cambodian personnel are active in UN missions in South Sudan, Lebanon, the CAR, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Their commitment has been acknowledged by UN representatives for their service to global peace efforts.
