The Quramo Writers Prize (QWP) 2024 has introduced a longlist of 20 manuscripts for the eighth version of the award for rising writers.
The longlist of 20 will precede a last shortlist of 5 in September and the announcement of a winner on the annual Quramo Competition (QFest), themed 'The Shifting: Empowering Voices… Inspiring Minds', which goals to focus on the altering nature of literature and its energy to create change.
The 2024 Quramo Competition will happen from October 2nd to sixth on the Eko Resort & Suites on Victoria Island in Lagos. The winner will obtain a money prize of 1 million naira and a publishing contract.
Editorial Supervisor, Quramo Publishing Ltd, Omoteniola Akinwalere, introduced the longlisted writers, a various group that features: Adeseri Emmanuella, Martin Chukwumah, Kabir Sabe Jibia, Salome Abiodun Medemaku, Arthur Gabriel Yak, Chukwumah Jonathan Jonathan, Amaka Azie, Sandra Uche Delumozie, Bisola Akintomide and Oyeleye Esther Eniola, Chidi Nwakpa and Henry Chukwuemeka Onyema.
Others are Lawal Ayuba Adewale, Ifeanyi Kalu, Ornguze Nashima Nathaniel, Immaculate Halla, Adikaibe Caleb Chidera, VandefanAondogu Fidelis, Joseph Olamide Babalola and Deryus Kwabena Partey.
Author and Government Director of Enterprise Improvement at Narrative Panorama Press, Dr Eghosa Imasuen; writer, editor and Chief Government Officer at Completed Work Enterprises, Mrs Lechi Eke; and author/founding father of on-line cultural information platform, TheArtHubNg, Mr. AnoteAjeluorou will kind the three-person jury that can decide the manuscripts. They’re revered figures within the literary neighborhood and can choose the ultimate 5 and the final word winner.
The Quramo Writers Prize was established in 2017 with a money prize of 1 million naira. It goals to find new, unpublished African writers. It presents the winner a publishing contract to launch their writing profession. Annually, the prize begins with a name for 30,000-word fiction manuscripts, adopted by a longlist of 20 writers, from which a three-person jury will shortlist 5, culminating within the announcement of an eventual winner.
