Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Siminalayi Fubara disagreed over politicians' vying for political workplace throughout the funeral of former Entry Financial institution CEO and banking icon Herbert Wigwe.
This was revealed in a trending video shared on X on Saturday.
Within the now-viral video, Fubara questioned the motives of the political class who attended the funeral, expressing her frustration with the violence and infighting.
Fubara had stated throughout his speech on the funeral: “This has to do with our political class, what are all these issues about.
“You wish to kill, you wish to bury, what's all of it about.”
Reacting to Fubara's remark to the political class who attended Wigwe's funeral, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, requested the Rivers Governor to surrender his political profession if he thinks it’s not value it.
Akpabio, whereas making his personal feedback, stated: “What’s the battle about? I’ll reply you.
“The battle, we aren’t speaking about politics. In 2006, I wished to turn out to be deputy governor, so the then deputy governor invited me and informed me that this workplace has no cash, there may be nothing in it. I don't know why you continue to insist on getting me out of right here and taking on.
“So the lady who got here with me stated: 'Your Excellency, don't look ahead to impeachment, however resign, as a result of there isn’t any level in that.'
“And he acquired up and commenced to beat the lady, and I stated to him: Your Excellency, don’t beat her, she is telling the reality. There's nothing within the workplace, that's why I would like it, since you're too large for it.
“So Excellency Governor Fubara, if there may be nothing within the battle, then don't battle.”
The stays of the late Wigwes arrived in Rivers State on Friday for burial.
The funeral service was held on the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo in Ikwerre Native Authorities Space of Rivers State.
Recall that the trio Wigwe, spouse and son died on February 9, 2024 in an unlucky helicopter crash in California, United States of America.
