Enugu law enforcement officials arrested a pretend philanthropist, Joseph Nnamani, who had fraudulently obtained luggage of rice.
Spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Nnamani, was arrested after he was about to defraud a businessman of 18 luggage of rice below the guise of shopping for and utilizing the rice for charity at a church.
Ndukwe stated the baggage of rice are value about N400,000.
The spokesperson stated that on February 14, 2024, Nnamani went to the premises of a church in Ogui, Enugu, from the place he referred to as the businessman and requested for 18 luggage of rice.
The businessman accordingly delivered the rice and unsuspectingly adopted Nnamani to the financial institution to obtain his cost through financial institution switch.
He stated whereas making the cost, Nnamani secretly left the financial institution, returned to the church and left with the baggage of rice to an unknown vacation spot.
He famous that an investigation was carried out which led to his arrest on February 20, 2024 in Enene, Enugu.
He additionally stated that eight of the eighteen luggage had been recovered from him after he repacked and offered the opposite luggage at Oye Enene market, Enugu.
