Following the controversy that adopted final Saturday's governorship major in Edo State, the Nationwide Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has declared the ballot inconclusive.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Nationwide Publicity Secretary of the get together, Felix Morka, after the management of the get together had an emergency assembly with the NWC on the get together secretariat in Abuja.
The ballot, performed on February 17, had yielded three winners.
The Chairman of the Main Election Fee, Governor Hope Uzodimma, had declared Dennis Idahosa the winner, whereas the Returning Officer, Stanley Ugboaja, declared Okpebholo the winner on Monday.
Elsewhere, Ojo Babatunde, who claimed to symbolize the returning officers in all native governments, declared Anamero Dekeri the winner of the election.
Following the confusion that ensued, each Dekeri and Okpebholo had written to the get together's enchantment committee demanding their return certificates.
One other candidate, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, on Tuesday burdened that no election can be held within the state opposite to the declared outcomes.
Talking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Morka disclosed that the elections haven’t but been concluded, including that the method would proceed on Thursday.
He stated: “I’m right here to provide the consequence of the emergency assembly of the Nationwide Working Committee of our get together held in the present day on the Edo State governorship primaries.
“On the emergency assembly held in the present day, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, to debate the report on the Edo governorship primaries, the Nationwide Working Committee of our get together deliberated and resolved that the governorship primaries haven’t but been accomplished and now have been set on Thursday. February 22 for the completion of the APC Edo State major election course of.”
In the meantime, the Nationwide Chairman of the get together, Abdullahi Ganduje, had earlier congratulated Idahosa for this emergence because the get together's candidate.
On the time of writing, it was not clear what led to the choice by the NWC of the Ganduje-led get together.
