The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft Patrol Crew in collaboration with the Ahead Working Base Badagry, mentioned they’ve arrested a wood boat carrying over 800 jerry cans of 30 liters of Premium Motor Spirit, near the Nigeria-Benin Republic border.
In a press release signed on Saturday by NNS Beecroft Base Info Officer Sub-Lieutenant H. A Collins, the arrest was made on Friday.
The assertion quoted the Commander, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, as saying that the boat, which was crusing seawards 80 nautical miles offshore, was intercepted by the NNS Beecroft Patrol Crew in coordination with the Ahead Working Base Badagry.
He mentioned: “In a present of maritime safety prowess, underneath the continued Operation Water Guard, the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft Patrol Crew in collaboration with the Ahead Working Base Badagry, underneath the strategic course of the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft and the Maritime Element Commander Throughout Operation AWATSE, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga efficiently intercepted an enormous wood boat loaded with over 800 jerry cans of 30 liters every containing merchandise suspected to be PMS.
“The boat was crusing 80 nautical miles from the coast to sea, very near the border between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin. The arrest befell within the early hours of Friday, January 19, 2024.”
