Outstanding activist Aisha Yesufu has criticized the Supreme Courtroom judgment that upheld Governor Abdullahi Sule's election victory in Nasarawa State.
The Supreme Courtroom on Friday dismissed a petition difficult the elections by the Peoples Democratic Social gathering and its candidate, Emmanuel Ombugadu.
Commenting on X on Friday, Yesufu mentioned the decision amounted to “theft” and a “coup” towards the need of the Nasarawa folks.
“The Nasarawa folks had been disadvantaged of their mandate. This can be a coup towards the folks. They selected who they needed and had been denied their mandate,” she wrote.
Yesufu described the ruling as “one other unhappy day for democracy in Nigeria.”
In a unanimous ruling, the Supreme Courtroom mentioned the PDP's petition had no evidentiary worth to justify overturning the election.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun opined that the allegations towards the election by the PDP had not been confirmed.
However Yesufu insisted the decision undermined the need of Nasarawa residents who voted for change.
She accused the Supreme Courtroom of denying the folks their elected governor in Ombugadu.
