The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams, on Saturday condemned Tuesday’s explosion in Ibadan and urged Governor Seyi Makinde to prosecute the perpetrators.
Adams, in an announcement by his Particular Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, described the incident as unlucky and suggested the federal government to unravel the perpetrators.
He blamed the incident on the carelessness of the miners, mentioning that such an act was unlawful and posed a menace to the lives and properties of the individuals of the state.
Adams stated: “So far as I’m involved, the story of the Ibadan explosion has raised many questions. It was a safety menace to the state, which is why it is vital that Governor Makinde catches the individuals behind the incident and brings them to justice.
“It is extremely unlucky that the dying toll is rising daily and the victims of the unlucky incident are recovering in numerous hospitals.
“The extent of the harm within the space was intensive, involving many homes. And judging by the governor's assertion and assurances, I imagine a case of such a number of damages shouldn’t be handled calmly. Ibadan is the political headquarters of the South West area and something that touches Ibadan clearly has a spiral impact on different states within the South West.
“So the state authorities should spare no effort in making certain that the perpetrators of this dastardly act don’t go scot-free.”
Adams, nonetheless, condoled with the Governor, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the individuals of Ibadan and the state, in addition to the households of those that misplaced their lives within the unlucky incident.
